Summary This position is with the Deputy Regional Forester Office, Region 4, located in Ogden, Utah. The incumbent assists in the analysis and development of communications between the Regional Forester’s office and its contacts. The position also provides assistance on confidential matters, office continuity, internal direction, and special project assignments. Responsibilities The responsibilities below are listed at the full performance level GS-11. Performs a wide variety of administrative and analytical duties that require knowledge of the internal and external affairs of the Regional Foresters office. Has advanced skill with computer office systems and related software applications. Manages the calendars for the Regional Foresters team and schedules appointments and meetings upon own initiative based upon knowledge of workload and issues of importance. Arranges for meetings, including such matters as location, agenda, and attendance lists. Makes necessary arrangements for travel, arranging schedules, making reservations, notifying organizations and officials at destinations, and provides background materials. Provides technical and administrative guidance, advice and oversight to management and internal customers in the Regional Office. Provides personal assistance on highly controversial and confidential matters, office continuity, internal direction of the office, and special project assignments. The position works as part of teams with various executive assistants and administrative staff. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-09: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include at least two of the following: Assisted managers with a wide variety of administrative functions including confidential matters; Conducted a wide range of administrative and communication activities to bring continuity to the operations of an organization; Conducted research and fact-finding on administrative, processes, operations, and/or services to evaluate program effectiveness and/or to recommend improvements to processes and systems. OR a master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR an appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
